Seven of the smartphones will run on Android 2.3. One of the devices will be US Cellular's first LTE device which is due in November. The first four phones will be released by HTC, with the first phone being released this summer and running on Windows 7. Two more HTC Android devices will follow in the fall along with a 7-inch tablet, which will most likely be the HTC Flyer. Motorola will provide a high end device which spots a 4.3 inch touchscreen and a 1 GHz dual-core processor. LG will release one of the “slimmest and lightest” phones which features 1 GHz processor, a 4-inch touchscreen and ultra-bright LCD display. US Cellular will also launch two entry-level smartphones from Huawei and Samsung.
The other tablet is expected to be the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. It's nice to see US Cellular adding so many devices to its roster. It's also nice to see that all of the Android devices will have Gingerbread pre-loaded. It looks as though US Cellular wants to compete with the big dogs and it is definitely on the right track to do so, especially with the release of an LTE device later this year.
