Intel Medfield-Based Tablets Coming in H1 2012

Medfield is their first platform specially designed for tablets and smartphones. It will enable sub-9mm tablets with a weight of less than 1.5 pounds and an all-day battery life. Midfield will support various operating systems, including Android and MeeGo.

“The platform has been optimized for both low power and high performance, and will deliver a great all around experience, including long use-time, rich media and gaming, and advanced imaging capabilities,” Intel says.

Medfield is based on 32nm production technology.

Updated MeeGo interface gets shown off on Atom Z670-based reference tablet

MeeGo on tablet pc? It's still possible. Not only has Netbook News managed to get its hands on a reference tablet based on Intel's brand new Atom Z670 tablet pc processor at IDF Beijing, but one running a new version of MeeGo with a spiffed-up UI. Yes, looks like MeeGo on tablet still has some hope.

As you can see above and in the video after the break, it looks to be a marked improvement over the tablet interface that was just shown off at Mobile World Congress in February, with it offering both a more refined appearance and what appears to be a more intuitive navigation system with improved response.

Will we see any new announcement from Nokia besides 'Anna'?

An unbranded tablet pc runs on OS MeeGo been displayed at the event by NetbookNews IDF Beijing. Compared with Intel MeeGo tablet sightings that emerged in the MWC in February 2011 last month, this new interface looks a bit more simple and clean, with a window floating and not display the fixed column along the vertical axis. OS Meego This looks to be adjusted to a certain extent, shows a new icon, and Opera Mobile 11 is used as the default browser.

This reference tablet pc running software is built on a 1.5GHz Atom Z670 is really new with a thickness of about 10mm (0.39in) and 10-inch touch screen. The tablet uses 1GB of RAM, solid-state drive, and a key switch to a motion sensor. The tablet is supported additional hardware such as a camera button, mini USB, and microSD slot for a 3G SIM card-oriented, and docking port.
