Samsung says Americans are crazy about tablets, its Galaxy Tab 10.1 should benefit from this

Wednesday, June 8, 2011

Just one day before the launch of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 in the US, Samsung has published the results of an online survey which suggests that American customers are simply crazy about tablets.

According to the company, "90% of U.S. consumers either already own a tablet, or would consider buying one." This certainly gives Samsung high hopes when it comes to the Galaxy Tab 10.1, which runs Android Honeycomb and is touted as the world's thinnest tablet (8.6mm - 0.2mm thinner than Apple's iPad 2).

The survey conducted by Samsung has also unveiled that 76% of the respondents are using (or would use) a tablet for reading the news or books, 64% for watching TV shows or movies, 61% for listening to music, and 56% for social networking.

Back to the Galaxy Tab 10.1, a Wi-Fi-only edition f it will be available tomorrow (June 8 ) exclusively at the Best Buy Union Square location in New York City. Starting June 17, other Best Buy locations, plus Amazon, Fry's Electronics, Micro Center, Tiger Direct and Newegg will offer the tablet. Earlier this week, Verizon announced it would sell an LTE Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 starting the next few weeks.
